Rising Kindergarteners to Rising fifth Graders
Capital Reading Club is a literacy program created by speech-language pathologist, Johnetta Hammonds, who brings over 15 years of experience working with children. Our mission is to strengthen foundational language, verbal expression, and reading skills through engaging, multi-modal learning approaches that support long-term retention and success.

9:00-9:30 Morning Meeting
9:30-10:30 Activity 1 Rotations will target oral language and reading skills
10:30-11:00 Break/Bathroom
11:00-12:00 Activity 2 Rotations will target oral language and reading skills
12:00-1:00 Lunch/Free play at the park
1:00-2:30 Hands-on activity that targets reading, planning, executive function, and movement
2:30-3:00 Snack/Bathroom
3:00-4:00 Free Play/Clean-up/Dismissal

Parent Interaction
Parents will receive daily or weekly updates throughout the sessions. After your child completes the program, families will receive a summary outlining their child’s progress, along with tailored recommendations to support continued growth at home.
